This is an ad from Thailand that, upon its release at the end of June, quickly went viral.
How viral? It’s been viewed more than 13 million times, at the time of writing.
My question is why?
Did people share it because its message that technology will never replace love is universal? Or, has our obsession with smart devices made us crave real human touch and this small, crying baby represents that desire?
Perhaps it is just me but, after about three seconds of this ad, it was obvious to me that all anyone had to do to comfort this baby was to simply pick it up.
I don’t know why this ad has hit a nerve with so many. But, it has.
