THis all sounds really good and at the risk of sounding ‘ancient’ but isn’t it also a concern of none of this stuff is stored on your computer. I mean it could actually get lost couldn’t it? or…..

I agree but then I realise I trust the data integrity & security & back-up processes of these guys way more than I trust my own ability to keep consistent and uncorrupted back up files. Not great but reality unfortunately!

Maybe less so than if it was stored on your hard drive and you deleted it by accident, your hard drive crashed, or you lost your computer. When it’s stored in the cloud, your service provider has to look after all these things: security and backups etc. It’s just a problem that cloud service providers are not usually providing any guarantees on their service levels. Interestingly, their service level is still often better than what we put up with on our own computer.

Thanks Silvia. I must step over the brink. What you say does make sense and I have had hard drives crash more than once.
