Think of all the real estate activity happening in your neighbourhood — say, within a ten-block radius of your digs. There’s more changing hands than you might think. But how does one visualise all those residential and commercial properties… and then go about finding out what’s on the market?
iProperty.com is an application developed by Melbourne native Shaun di Gregorio as an alternative to cumbersome classified searches that force one to narrow down listings by location. Instead, it builds around the concept of location itself. For that, the user-friendly, one-of-a-kind app has been granted the title to the runner-up spot in this year’s SMART 100.
While the app’s use of Google Maps, GPS and real-time technology seem obvious, the execution of the idea turns out to be greater than the components that enable it. It means that users — not just investors but also potential home buyers and renters — can quickly search for properties in their immediate vicinity to determine what’s available or to compare market prices.
The app is free and easy to download through the Apple store and is available for the iPad and iPhone, as well as for Android and other smartphones.
Currently based in Malaysia, di Gregorio and the iProperty Group represent the growing economic ties between Australian expats and Southeast Asian markets. Having met with success in Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore as well as Malaysia, iProperty now looks to bring the focus on the three keys to real estate (location, location, location) back home again.
The maven judges didn’t need a spotters fee to identify this hot property.
