It's been six months since we began experimenting in social media and three months since we made the decision to ditch our ailing Facebook Group in favour of Facebook's Fanpage format. What's been most interesting is the apparent development of several unexpected (yet welcome) mini 'Tipping Points'.

Geographical Conversation Mapping (SMART 100)
From dealing with a number of international brands such as Red Bull, Toyota and Microsoft we realised that Australian subsidiaries have a challenge in identifying local content. Customers had to deal with ‘noise’ as they tried to determine what conversations are local and what they should care about. We needed to work out a way of pinpointing where conversations were happening beyond a domain basis (all the main social media sites are .com so would be attributed to the US). Our technology can now take a conversation sat on any domain and pinpoint the creator down to a suburb level.
myAnswers (SMART 100)
We discovered that the keywords we were using to deliver self-created (text) content could be treated as 'managed interaction objects'. Or in simple terms, keywords could be embellished with logic to allow a mobile user to perform fairly complex but identifiable tasks and functions, by effectively proxying a user of existing system interfaces. From this point it quickly developed where keywords come together to create an 'answerSpace'. The keywords provide structure to the browsing, enquiry and resulting information for users of mobile devices, to access common or high demand elements of an organisation's web and business systems.

Why I don’t trust brands… even when they appear authentic.
We recently got slammed. Last week, I was cc’d on seven emails in the space of a minute. They were all from Wordpress, each one a comment from the mag nation blog waiting for approval. Does this make the ‘Cools’ the biggest award in business?
At this year's Cool Company Awards, category winners were presented with a trophy that could be described as Australia’s biggest award in business — a 1.2 metre, individually branded bean-bag. Produced by Ambient Lounge, a winner in Anthill's SMART 100 earlier this year, the nine bean-bags, each branded with the award's logo and the category winner's name and accolade, were described by Anthill Editor-In-Chief as "perfect for the office, reception, pool room... or boudoir."
You say you're an expert. I say you “know” squat
As I lie in bed writing this on a Sunday morning, I am bracing myself for a wave of criticism. There is going to be a fair dose of irony in this article, and depending on where it meanders, I can imagine it pissing off a lot of people.
5 reasons I hate logos
Okay, maybe that's a tad on the dramatic side. What I hate is this faffing around with logos as an excuse for not doing other, real, important stuff with your business.
