Microsoft's Windows 7 launch party tutorial gets the YouTube treatment

As Kraft's iSnack 2.0 debacle illustrates, companies don't have much room for error these days when it comes to launching a new product. That is especially true if that company's name is Microsoft and that product is Windows 7, the latest iteration of the company's flagship product and the follow-up to the much maligned Windows Vista.

How can we stop companies banning social media apps at work?

I don't know about you (dear readers) but, whenever I'm stuck for an answer at work, I either look for an instructional screencast on YouTube, pose my question to fellow Anthilians via IM and Skype, request feedback from LinkedIn Groups or simply blog about it.

Now you can get Hulu in Australia (and Stephen Conroy ain't gonna like it)

Hulu is a website that offers commercial-supported streaming video of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox and many other networks and studios. It topped Fast Company's Top 100 Innovators list for 2009, beating both Google and GE. It is a rival to YouTube (offering full episodes, rather than 10 minute teasers), threatens Apple's strategy for renting and selling video content online (as a logical extension of iTunes) and in April signed a deal with Disney that sent shivers down the spines of television and studio executives the world over (those execs with spines, anyway).

You think Twitter is indulgent. Check out “hauling”.

"Hauling" = videoing yourself showing off items you have just bought and posting it on YouTube for the world to see. This clip, from the Al Gore-backed Current TV, contains everything that is right and wrong with America.

Marketing video gone viral? Make YouTube your company’s homepage!

You might remember a great marketing video by US creative agency BooneOakley we posted on Anthill TV a couple of months ago. At the time, we held it up as a model for how to market yourself online. Well that video spread across the globe like, well, a virus. In fact, it has worked so well for BooneOakley that they took the interesting step of making their homepage - www.booneoakley.com - redirect to the video's YouTube page. The YouTube video is designed like a web page and contains clickable links that take you to other videos by the team (portfolio work, news & bios, contact details).
