1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

I always struggled with being expected to gain tangible skills and expertise in high school and university just from textbooks and lectures. I and many others I knew, always learned best by actually ‘doing things’. What if we could use technology to bring this concept to life that is scaleable to every single student? This drove my interest to begin working on Sciosity, a startup dedicated to reforming education and training content to creative immersive and interactive virtual reality simulations, as well as develop advanced analytics to understand how students really think, behave and perform in realistic situations.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

Enhance retention, pass rates, and skill retention within academic institutions, as well as reduce risk and potential injury within high-risk industries through providing realistic learning experiences

It does this by…

Placing the user in a tailored, realistic replicated scenario based on what the user will likely encounter in a realistic context, while being tracked by artificial intelligence programs.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

As opposed to standard 2D simulations, or 3D simulator booths, VR simulations are significantly more immersive on a cognitive basis, as well as more interactive and have significantly more advanced tracking capabilities. Moreover, its also significantly cheaper as a hardware platform.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Significantly more intricate and efficient learning and assessment experiences than what presently exist in a traditional context.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

2D gamification software / simulations, or by 3D simulator booths. The issue with software like this is mostly in its simplicity and lack of immersion. VR, being completely immersive to the user, allowed us to create simulations that actually trick a user into feeling like they’re actually there!

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Sciosity’s competitors mostly include virtual reality indie game studios experimenting with simulation and analytics software. The issue with this being that most back end systems are not geared towards educational outcomes.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Predominantly high risk industries, such as construction, resources, and defense due to the severity of consequences associated with poor training quality and the extent to which they are willing to invest towards risk mitigation. However the academic sector is also a major focus for us.

It is available for sale through…

At the moment, our simulations and analytics platform is only available via direct contact with a business development manager, available by emailing [email protected]. However, plans are currently in place to create a public platform anyone can purchase from.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Form strategic partnerships with entities such as training ogranisations, course development specialists, etc who already operate in these sectors to position ourselves as a collaborator rather than a competitor.
