1. THE BEGINNING
This innovation came to life when…
We were talking to a business coach who challenged us to combine our love of developing people’s management and leadership abilities with our other love — motorcycling — even if they couldn’t ride a bike. After riding over half a million kilometres through most of Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand as well as working in the corporate training field for 30+ years, I have discovered a fantastic analogy between the two fields. This was a fun challenge — and we did it!
2. WHAT & HOW
The purpose of this innovation is to…
Help managers develop their leadership ability — fast! This is a world-first workshop.
It does this by…
Participants ride pillion on the back of that icon of motorcycling – a Harley-Davidson. They experience the adrenalin rush of a ride through one of Sydney’s best motorcycling roads whilst completing various exercises to make connections back to how they manage and lead their staff.
3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS
This innovation improves on what came before because…
It is a world first. No one is doing this anywhere that we can find in the world.
Plenty of people go on rides but we bring insights from motorcycling to leadership skills and managing people better. We help people tap into their own experience through the mental exercises and debrief process.
The benefits to the customer/end-user include…
When you experience a completely different situation with unknown and some perceived physical danger your brain reacts in an interesting way. Barriers to learning fall away, new insights pop up and a deeper understanding of how you lead becomes crystal clear.
4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
In the past, this problem was solved by…
There are loads of books on leadership and workshops in the corporate world either in classrooms or outdoors. We happen to use motorcycling rather than high ropes courses or abseiling for example.
Its predecessors/competitors include…
Many corporate training companies operating here and overseas that offer Leadership development (e.g. Rogen training, Drake Training, AIM courses, Wilson Learning etc.).
5. TARGET MARKET
This innovation is made for…
People who would like to be inspiring leaders and effective managers particularly in the IT and engineering space. They need to be into doing things a little differently and find the physical and mental challenge of motorcycling appealing. They don’t need to be bike riders themselves.
Next will be entrepreneurs. Later this will be offered to a broader market and overseas.
6. DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY
It is available for sale through…
Currently made available to Sydney-based people only but will extend to other cities in Australia and New Zealand followed by USA and then the world! Via our company Fast Track People and soon through selected affiliates.
Our marketing strategy is to…
We market through our website using videos, blogs, direct marketing and referral. Soon to publish a book as well. We are also exploring joint ventures with other training companies that would like to offer our workshop to their clients.
