Shop, Stock and Bill

This innovation initially came to life when…

A client experienced sudden international demand and needed to find a robust system to cope with their fast growth. We developed a software product called Shop, Stock and Bill, an integrated online ‘in the cloud’ system that manages and tracks products and payment, from retail or wholesale client orders via a shopping cart (or e-catalogue) through a stock inventory control system, tracing components, enabling warehouse management and location, freight, and finally interfaces with the client’s existing accounts system to deliver customised reporting. SS&B also integrates with Point of Sale software and layers of loyalty systems.

WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

To track stock, enable an efficient workplace, save time and money, enhance client experience and a less stressful working environment. Targeted at manufacturers, importers or retailers of multi products and/or services, this product will empower business with exact information.

It does this by…

Enabling CFOs, CEOS, owners/managers to have complete control of their business. Incorporating widgets and a report dashboard at a glance, to know what they have on hand, alerts as to minimum stock and allied components and education on seasonal product sales. Reporting can be customised to client needs.

PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Using the very latest technology, this product enables real-time access to exact stock, can locate where the products (also service-oriented) are at any time, will interface with Arrow, MYOB, Quicken and other accounting packages to enable continuity of information. Eliminating double keying. In a retail Point of Sale environment, SS&B interfaces with products sold in that environment.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Clients are delighted to have an integrated system, rather than having to access information from various software systems; this allows continuity of information. Information can be entered in one end and then accessed at the other. Reports can be customised.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

The problem has not been solved in the past, as there is no existing online stock system that incorporates all of the benefits of recording of products, services, and location of each one, accessible from various sites at any time with a real-time report.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Esuite, Stockmaster, TABS Stock Control System. Esuite based in NSW seems to be the only real competitor.

TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Inventory Control and management of products and services for Manufacturers, Importers, Medical Dental Industry, Tools, Electrical products — in fact, anyone who has multi products. It can be scaled to an unlimited number of products for various business sizes who sell, import or manufacture products. This system will keep track of errors and inefficiencies and will save businesses from keeping large inventories to avoid running out of product, as alerts are sent when products are below minimum allowance. Large inventories often curtail cash flow and avoid the cost of out-of-date stock. The interface with POS and Accounting Systems is very beneficial.

DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

It is available for sale through…

Through our local office in Melbourne as well as via the Internet. Consultants will be sought later in the year.

Our marketing strategy is to…

At this point the product is being marketed via search engine optimisation, and through networking with local software distributors. A PR campaign is currently being put in place.

Partnerships are being sought with Accounting and Point of Sale software providers.

When I came home from London and found it was so costly to move my furniture, I thought there must be a better way. And then I bought a few items from regional Australia and eBay and realised it was more expensive to ship these items then paying for them! I just wanted to create a way to support regional businesses but also create a win-win situation for transport providers.

The innovation came to life when frustrated with wholesaler services, and because there was no support or innovation from their side. While working one hour with our business coach from Action Coach we came up with the concept we have now come to sell. Our service provides a one-stop shop opportunity for anyone to become a Telecoms company without the large capital normally required and without having to source dozens of different providers to supply them.

  • Brain Wave (SMART 100)

We had all worked in some really brilliant organisations as well as some terribly uninspiring organisations and the one thing we knew was that workplaces that make an effort to understand and love their people are the places we have all loved to work in. Our question was how could we bring this culture of participation and crowdsourcing to life within workplaces.

Founder Dale Carr noticed how many website owners were complaining about declining revenues they were seeing from online adverts placed on their web pages (especially with Google Adsense). Digging deeper, Carr identified a trend called ad-blindness where web visitors were now so used to the look and feel of online adverts that they were totally ignoring them. Carr set about working on an advertising solution where the display method would be more engaging meaning higher click-throughs, better web-owner revenues and higher quality leads for advertisers.

  • Freelancer.com (SMART 100)

We realised that although there are 6.8 billion people of the earth, only 2 billion have the Internet. However, they are now getting online at record rates. While people join up, looking to improve their socio-economic situation, the Internet began delivering a tectonic shift to the global labourforce. Freelancer.com was created to facilitate this shift — by connecting businesses of all sizes to the world’s largest liquid workforce — over 2.3 million professionals.
