Sage advice for everyone from one of Silicon Valley’s top VCs [VIDEO]

John Doerr is a Partner at one of the most famous venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Just last week, he gave these three pieces of advice to the MBA graduates at Stanford University. Inc. Magazine provides this video.

Firstly, understand technology. In fact, if you can, learn more about technology than anything else.

Next, he restates something that I found myself saying last week to a recent university graduate: your grades don’t matter, your network does. Once you leave university, no one cares one iota what your grades were.

The last piece of advice is quite profound. It’s not about business or career but, about life. Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, also covers this is her book Lean in.

And you know what, I think they are both 100 per cent correct. I don’t necessarily agree with the timeframe that he places around this piece of advice. But, the rest is completely true.
