What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Jay Wright, NSW (b. 1987)

Name: Jay Wright
Age: 29
Gender: MALE
State: NSW
Known for: Search Insights

Jay Wright’s team knows more about promoting small businesses than many small business owners and they’re ready to pass on their knowledge. Search Insights helps businesses generate more leads and sales through strategic digital marketing.

“I entered this space because there was so much noise and gimmick in the market place, and not enough firm strategy available to small to mid-sized businesses looking to scale online,” Jay says.

Now, Search Insights has been able to grow e-commerce businesses making between $50 and 250 thousand per month in online sales by 30 to 100 percent in just six to 12 months. These strategies have been utilized at over 75 businesses as well as his own, Jay says.

Jay also founded www.grannyflatfinder.com.au and topfluence.com, where he demonstrates the very digital marketing strategies he teaches.

“I practice what I preach,” Jay says. He uses his two businesses to demonstrate how successful his strategies can be.

Through making use of his businesses Jay has been able to build his own profile as an entrepreneur, he says. When it comes to building Search Insights, he uses other methods.

Jay says the majority of Search Insight’s business comes from referrals and partnerships.

The most effective way to get new business is by ensuring quality in current projects, Jay says. By focusing on the now, an employee can give their all to their current client, hoping that client is then satisfied and spreads the word to their friends.

Partnering with complimentary businesses is another means of growth, Jay says. If one business refers another to Search Insights, the first business will look good when the second gets the results they hoped for.

These strategies for success have come from Jay’s ability to see opportunity in all things, he says.

“How can I make digital marketing better and more understandable and accessible? How can I make buying a granny flat easier for people? How can I make influencer marketing less costly and difficult?” Jay says these are just some of the business evoking questions that have inhabited his mind over the years.
