What is the 30under30?
30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.
Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.
Adrian Osman, QLD (b. 1991)
Name: Adrian Osman
Age: 25
Gender: MALE
State: QLD
Known for: Pitchblak
An entrepreneur in the business of helping fellow entrepreneurs — this is how Adrian Osman describes himself and his “addiction to getting new ideas off the ground.”
In the spirit of practicing what he preaches, Adrian says his wealth of entrepreneurial knowledge only came from launching his own startup. He’s experienced highs and lows in all shapes and sizes and is now able to use those experiences to help others.
Adrian is the Co-Founder and CEO of Pitchblak, a startup studio. Adrian describes the studio as “an in-house team of talented strategists, designers, growth-hackers and tech nerds.”
On the company’s website, the Pitchblak team conveys a strong message of encouragement by saying, “If you have an idea and you’re willing to work your ass off, you deserve to get it right the first time.”
As an entrepreneur, problems always seem to find their way to your plate, Adrian says. This is why he describes the role of an entrepreneur as, “the ultimate problem solver.”
Having experienced so many of these problems himself, Adrian says the most productive thing he can do is share his solutions with others. By doing so, he’s able to help some of the world’s most impactful ideas find legs to stand on.
The most effective solutions and support come from innovation, Adrian says. Behind any successful startup is an innovative mind. This is another area where Pitchblak can help, he says, by sparking fresh thoughts when things seem bland.
Through all of these methods, Adrian has now been a part of founding, investing in and advising a number of successful startups. This list includes companies such as the video sharing app Kwickie, the social media monetizing app Clinqe and many more.
Adrian says one of his most valuable assets is his sales and advertising background. He says this is because there’s no end to the value of story-telling. “Telling your story about yourself, your why, your company. And this story needs to be sold to investors, shareholders, media, your team, the public and so on.”
This asset has helped Adrian and Pitchblak work with companies that, in total, have raised over $10 million in funding. Pitchblak’s growing success has allowed the company to assist two startups per week, meaning over 100 startups a year.
Adrian explains this success as a product of his team’s own innovative ideas. For the most part, only startups that are already showing a high success rate get the support they truly need. He says startups in the beginning stages are often neglected, though this is when they truly need the most help. Pitchblak’s mission is to help these overlooked businesses get off the ground.
“When we fix the way we support early-stage entrepreneurs, we progress human advancement at an unprecedented rate,” Adrian says in his vision statement.
Through his efforts to support the untended, Adrian has made a true impact in the entrepreneurial world and earned a spot in the 30under30.
