PART 1: How is the game played?

Venture Capital, Seed and Early Stage (an introduction)
Purpose: Introduce attendees to the basics of venture capital, seed and early stage investment options, explore alternatives and its applicability to the attendees. Topics: Who are the players? How is the game played? Debt versus equity and alternative funding sources.

Idea Evaluation – Is your opportunity investment ready?
Purpose: Provide attendees with an understanding of what is required when launching a venture and provide a structure for attendees to evaluate their own ventures. Topics: Feasibility analysis, the entrepreneur, the market, the competitive advantage, introduction to Financial Analysis.

PART 2: Preparing for the deal

The Tools – Business Plans, Terms Sheets & IMs
Purpose: Provide attendees with an understanding of the tools and an opportunity to work through a real business plan. Topics: The tools, Business Plan, Choosing the structure, Financial analysis (an introduction), Market analysis, Operational Analysis, The Term Sheet, The IM (Information Memorandum).

Negotiating the deal (Understanding the VC mindset)
Purpose: Provide attendees with an understanding of investor expectations, the process, the tools and an opportunity to work through a real Term Sheet. Topics: Choosing a venture capitalist (Is a VC right for you?), Understanding the VC Mindset (Screening & Due Diligence, Exit Routes), Valuation (an introduction).
