1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

My doctor recommended to monitor and to keep track of my weight and blood pressure. I bought a weight scale which would measure the weight and could see my weight details on my iPhone. However, it wouldn’t send the details to my doctor directly. Also, I wanted to buy a blood pressure machine from a different manufacturer, but had to download a separate app as it was from a different manufacturer. That’s when I created HealthData software which can take vital sign readings from any of your wireless measuring devices, can send to your doctor real-time and also allow you to track it yourself.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…give the customer the option to buy various wireless measuring devices and see the vital sign readings in a single dashboard without downloading multiple apps. It also sends the details directly to your doctor to keep track of the progress.

It does this by…

…connecting to your wireless measuring device and storing it in a secured cloud server where it is encrypted. This data is then pulled to show the details on the user’s machine — smartphone, tablet or webpage through a secure gateway. The same data is also sent to the doctor (once user has consented for this option) securely through API as well.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

HealthData is not device-manufacturer-dependent. It provides a single dashboard to display the vital sign data collected through different manufacturers’ wireless devices. E.g.: The readings from ihealth’s weight scale and QardioArm’s blood pressure monitor readings are displayed in a single app. No downloading of multiple apps. HealthData sends device readings directly and securely to the doctor and integrates with clinic management software.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

  1. Readings are sent directly to the doctor and securely, once user has given consent.
  2. End-user can have different manufacturers’ devices (blood pressure, weight scale, blood glucose monitor) and read all data in one single website or app.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

…sending the vital sign data to doctors manually by the end-user or patient. This would send emails to the doctor and they could enter the data into their clinic management software. Also, the user had to buy wireless devices from only one manufacturer, even though it was expensive, to avoid downloading multiple apps for multiple devices from different manufacturers.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

There are a wide range of manufacturers who provide specific apps to the devices manufactured only by them. However, there are no competitors who provide a single-software solution- webpage or mobile app for various devices from varied manufacturers.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

…consumers who take their health seriously! This software gives the end-users options to buy different company-manufactured devices. It gives them the flexibility to buy the wireless device from any manufacturer without having to install multiple apps to view each of their vital sign readings. The wireless medical device market is a growing market which is seeing a growth of about 12.20% every year. HealthData helps the doctors to diagnose their patients by looking at the range of data which is sent when the patient takes the reading on their device securely. This helps the doctor to provide effective patient care.

It is available for sale through…

…distributors of various medical devices by providing a customised app to track the vital signs data. There are various distributors of the devices — pharmacists like Priceline pharmacy, and companies that distribute medical portable devices like uhealth.

Our marketing strategy is to…

…sell HealthData to distributors by customising the app for them by putting the distributors’ branding. Also, showcase NetHealth at the Australian Association for Practice Managers conference every year where there are various distributors attending the event and look at collaborative partnerships with them. The cash flow is generated when the app is downloaded by the end-user.
