What is the 30under30?
30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.
Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.
Alexander Haggerty
Name: Alexander Haggerty
Age: 29
Gender: Male
State: VIC
Known for: Taggd Pty Ltd
Alexander Haggerty realised early on how powerful social media is as a tool in brand management. He understood that there is great power in harnessing user-generated content, so he was able to make a business out of curating customer photos from different social network sites featuring different brands. This was how Taggd was born.
While most people believe that spending too much time on social media is bad, he believes otherwise.
“Whenever I see a problem, I also see an opportunity. I actively look for innovative solutions where others only see problems,” Alexander recently told Anthill.
His skills of persuasion were such that for his first client, he was able to convince a major brand to get onboard with his company, even though he only had a mere idea at the time, and no product yet. And in yet another compelling sales pitch, he managed to turn one client into four. Despite presenting to only one person within that particular organisation, he managed to ensure that all of the brands from within that company signed on as well.
His pet peeve has always been people who are just going through the motions while working in a job they despise. “I want to build a company where others can look back and say that the best job they ever had was when they worked for me.”
Further proof of his entrepreneurial spirit came after launching his business just two months ago, when Alexander was able to generate close to $200K in sales, and his projection is to reach $2.5M by the end of the financial year.
Now, Anthill is pleased to announce Alexander Haggerty, 2015 30under30 winner.
Anthill asks: Alexander Haggerty, what’s your super power?
I have a willingness to stretch myself thin on money and sleep. I choose to work at the hours I do to succeed in what I love doing. I am not driven by money but rather, by success.
