BBC reporter breaks 'unbreakable' new phone, embarrasses phone CEO

This year’s recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2010) held in Las Vegas was full of the usual crowd of chest-beating CEOs, marketers and technologists, all trying to convince the world that their latest shiny gadgets will change life as we know it.

It’s an elbows-out affair that leaves no room for shrinking violets. So Sonim CEO Bob Plaschke was surely chuffed when the BBC’s flagship technology programme Click asked him to discuss on camera his company’s new phone, the Sonim XP1, which he was bullishly touting as “unbreakable”. So Click reporter Dan Simmons put Plaschke’s claim to the test.
