What is 30under30?
30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians. This year saw more outstanding entries than ever before. So we thought we would highlight some of the bright and innovative nominees who just missed Top 30 by a wink. Behold, our 2011 30under30 Honourable Mentions! More.

In 2009, Marcela Christy was planning her own wedding. At the same time, she needed an outlet for her desire to write. The two things came together, forming a wedding blog that today is a full-blown, nuptial-laden website called One Stylish Bride.
The site offers a directory of wedding services and products, along with thoughtful and innovative tools for planning the Big Day. The heart and soul of One Stylish Bride is the blog, which Christy writes and edits.
One Stylish Bride enjoys more than 74,000 visitors and 670,000 page views a month, making it one of Australia’s top wedding sites. One eye-opening stat: a user’s average time spent on the site is five minutes, 38 seconds. That’s a lot of browsing. The site constantly fine-tunes its SEO to push up its profile for wedding keywords on Google.
Christy says three-quarters of her readers are female and aged 18-34 with income over $100,000 and college degrees.
The site was featured in the June 2011 issue of Cleo magazine in an article called “Wedding Gurus,” and the site staff served as a consultant to last year’s “Marry Me Microsoft” contest. And One Stylish Bride has a social media presence not just on mainstays such as Facebook and Twitter, but also Stumbleupon, Wishpot and Pinterest.
Christy’s husband, Michael Kenneth, is the sales director for One Stylish Bride. In addition to the ever-growing directory, the site has sponsored posts and banner ads.
“We work extremely well together,” Christy says of her husband, “and we are constantly pushing each other to develop an innovative wedding resource that appeals to both our readers and wedding vendors.”
Anthill asks: Marcela Christy, what motivates you as an entrepreneur?
“I want work for myself and have more flexibility and freedom in my work schedule. I also want to do what I love, which is write, but on my own terms. I also have a strong desire to work for a business and in a role that has uncapped potential, which I believe you can only find in a business you own.”
