1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

We experienced our own mental health challenges and found that the current system did not meet our needs. Upon further investigation, we identified that 70% of people will not seek mental health support for reasons including stigma, affordability, time, availability and location. As a result, Voice of Health was born. We aim to bridge the gap between those individuals suffering in silence and those seeking professional support

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…provide a place where people can learn and share with their peers, talk with people that understand them, develop personalised strategies and promote continuous self-management of their mental health and wellbeing on demand.

It does this by…

…Breaking down the barriers associated with receiving mental health support. We provide people with someone to listen, talk and empathise, with no judgement, fear or worries. Whilst giving them the confidence to take the first step, ask the first question or provide support exactly when they need it.

We are the bridge that allows people to better self-manage their mental-health.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

No other service currently provides a collective approach which is specifically designed to meet the needs of young adults. There are many companies creating awareness for mental health or providing tele-health services, but there is no service which aims to be on the front-line and allow young adults to self-manage their mental-health and take the next steps to seek support.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Building greater social connectivity, belonging and personal empowerment. Coupled with providing people a place to learn, share and talk with others without fear of judgement, whilst developing strategies that promote continuous self-improvement of their mental heath.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

Going to see a psychologist. However, with 70% of individuals not seeking support for their mental health and psychology drop-out rates currently at 43%, people are shifting away from the traditional system. People are currently either doing nothing, relying on medication, calling helplines or pushing their challenges deeper within them.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Currently, our closest competitors include 7 Cups of Tea, iPrevail, Lyf App and Better Help. All of which provide some form of peer-support therapy and online community, each with its limitations.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Young adults aged 18-35. Which include individuals who are suffering in silence and don’t know where to start or those that have accessed that existing mental health system and no longer believe it meets their needs or those individuals looking for guidance in how to support a friend, colleague or family member living with mental health challenges.

Currently in Australia, we spend approximately $28 billion on mental health services per year, which is a figure that seems to be increasing each year. The system is outdated and there needs to be a change.

It is available for sale through…

Downloading on the apple store for free. With in-app subscription available for users.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Continue partnering with Universities to provide the app as a resource for all of their students. We will acquire earned media through press releases, and leverage social media campaigns (Reddit, Facebook & Product Hunt). Additionally, we will develop our ASO, in order to be front of mind on the app store.
