What are the Anthill Cool Company Awards?
The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.
Stuck On You
Company: Stuck On You
Website: stuckonyou.com.au
State: NSW
Category: Global Growth
Mumtrepreneur Carrie Felton launched her business way back in 1995 by cooking lunch for 20 friends. They were granted first dibs on Stuck On You’s breakthrough coloured labels, one on condition: they each agreed to give Felton the addresses of 10 more friends.
Thus Stuck On You’s audience — which now spans addresses all around the globe — was born.
The core of that audience, of course, is mums with young children. All kids, it seems, are prone to misplacing their belongings on the bus or at school. All parents, in turn, are prone to spells of irritation and lost time.
Stuck On You doesn’t simply remedy this problem with personalised labels that attach themselves to any cup, container, toothbrush or thingamajig; it does so with products that look really good. In addition to the classic labels, there are wall stickers, iron-on clothing images, and silicone place mats all rolling off the printers.
The ordering process — from the moment the customer orders through the website to the moment, four days later, when the order ships — is practically seamless. Not to mention, web customers are afforded the ability to personalise designs, thanks to a new product reviewer that the company added to the site this year. In Stuck On You’s case, the web really has made the world smaller. In fact, you can now find Stuck in You’s stickers in over a hundred countries.
“Innovation is a state of mind,” the team stated in their Cool Company application, accounting for how they have managed to (wait for it) stick it out in a field that has grown intensely competitive. (A lot can change in 17 years!)
“Our organisation is full of entrepreneurs, intrepreneurs and people that just make stuff happen,” they wrote. “The beauty of this is that any one can have a great idea; we have the skills, culture and ability to bring that innovation to life.”
