Ollo Mobile describes itself as “the next generation wearable smartphone for healthier, safer families.”

Its main product is more than simply a phone, too. CloudPhone 3G is a cloud-based smart care system that constantly monitors your loved one’s health and wellbeing.

Ollo Mobile Founder, Hugh Geiger, tells us the fascinating origin story of the company.

“In late 2011, my great aunt fractured her hip in a shower fall. During rehabilitation, her doctor told her to stay active or risk losing mobility forever; meanwhile, her family worried she wasn’t safe outside,” Hugh tells us.

“When I looked for a care and communication solution, I discovered a disgraceful lack of innovation by incumbents. Millions of seniors were being injured or dying, and being needlessly isolated from their families by a lack of innovation. To paraphrase Henry Ford, their attitude was ‘you can have any colour you like as long as it’s black.’ I decided my loved ones deserved better.”

The company he started is on a mission to save lives by introducing a CloudPhone that is a wearable smartphone that also monitors health. It does this by way of a tiny, voice controlled cellular phone, completely integrated with a cloud platform that uses the established 3G network.

In its two years of operation, Ollo Mobile has won nearly a dozen innovation awards in 8 months, including an iAward for R&D, two National iAward nominations, a nomination to represent Australia in the startup category for APICTA in HK (Asia Pacific innovation awards).

Now, the modest three-person business can add to their list of accolades the fact that Anthill says they’re Cool, too.
