Global ideas take center stage with return of TEDxSydney

0

TEDxSydney, the annual ideas event and offshoot of the famed not-for-profit TED enterprise, will return to CarriageWorks, Eveleigh on Saturday 28 May.

Devoted to the propagation of “Ideas Worth Spreading”, TEDxSydney 2011 will provide a speaking platform to around 20 of Australia’s leading innovators, thinkers, global leaders and change makers. As a member (free to register), you can also nominate a speaker whom you feel is deserving to be present for the event.

A TEDx is an independently organised TED event.

“We felt that we would establish a platform for local thinkers, doers and storytellers,” said Remo Giuffré, the Sydney retail pioneer and organiser of TEDxSydney. “We consider our role to be that of talent scouts: unearthing people from this part of the world who inspire and, through their ideas and actions, make a powerful contribution to life on earth.”

Anyone can participate in TEDxSydney 2011 and all events are free.  Around 800 people can attend as members of the LIVE Bay 17 audience, which will be selected via application.

In collaboration with CarriageWorks, the TEDxSydney forum will return in the CarriageWorks foyer. Open all day for the public to attend, the forum will include a large-screen simulcast of the event as well as live interviews and other exclusive content.

Can’t make it there in person? TED will be live webstreaming the event as well, assuring that this workshop of ideas reaches the widest possible audience.

To apply to be in the LIVE Bay 17 audience, nominate a speaker, become a member or learn more about the event, please visit the TEDxSydney website.
