This innovation initially came to life when…

The former Premier of Tasmania, David Bartlett, had issues trying access his cabinet information and other highly sensitive data when the first iPad came out. David has a computer science background, he was captivated with Apple devices immediately and recognised the power they held as a business tool, but as a consumer device the IT teams in Government prevented him from using them. David asked his friend and serial technology entrepreneur, Mike Nermut, to help get the data he needed securely onto his iPad. Mike found no existing solutions and said he’d develop something specifically and AsdeqDocs was born.

The purpose of this innovation is to…

AsdeqDocs is a product that allows organisations to access corporate data from mobile devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops. It allows users to edit, annotate or review data anytime, from any location so they are productive at all times.

It does this by…

AsdeqDocs integrates directly with an organisation’s existing content repositories (e.g. SharePoint, Trim etc.) and allows data to be federated securely onto mobile devices. Mobilising data means users can be productive all times online and offline. Organisations have complete visibility and control of data at all times and the tools to grant/revoke access and security wipe data remotely at anytime.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Prior to the enterprise mobility revolution and AsdeqDocs, organisations relied on paper and manual processes to secure their outcomes. Mobility created the perfect opportunity to optimise processes for greater efficiency. Users were ahead in embracing the power of mobility and applications. It took business a long-time to catch up and know how, when and where users’ access data has shifted.

The business gains to be realised from enterprise mobility are extremely compelling. These include productivity gains, cost savings, process improvements that result in better informed decision making, and job scheduling. AsdeqDocs saved an Australian utility an estimated $24.3M in four years.

Workers were tied to desktop or remotely on laptops. They relied on VPN to access virtual desktops, which are clunky, slow and require an Internet connection, so users weren’t truly productive.

It’s still an early stage market. Prior to AsdeqDocs users were tied to the desktop, using redundant technologies to achieve the outcomes needed. Most market entrants focused on managing devices and applications — AsdeqDocs believes it’s about managing information.

All organisations grappling with how to embrace mobility for their business. It is for organisations who are concerned that their corporate data is being exposed to IT security risks like data theft, data leakage and data duplication, all of which have the potential to lead to significant brand, reputation and fiscal damage.
