At the tender age of 13, Nathan Birch started saving for his first property. Upon turning 18, he finally had enough to purchase it, and there was no looking back from then on.
Birch continued on to further develop his portfolio, soon became financially free and was able to retire from the work force in his early 20s. Yes, you read that right, early 20s. However, he was not yet fully satisfied with himself.
Birch decided to leverage what he had learnt along the way to help other people achieve financial freedom too and also created various investor tools which will help in maintaining and developing a property portfolio. This is when he founded Binvested in 2011 with his own savings.
“Although I hold a strong portfolio of over 70 properties, I do not service every deal that I negotiate, so I can afford to help others build their portfolios and achieve financial freedom,” Birch explains.
Birch took to social media to create a buzz for Binvested and has now built a strong ever-growing Facebook community where people can join in and learn about the business.
Birch now employs over a dozen people at Binvested. However, when he started taking staff on, things did not quite turn out as hoped. He had to seek the correct help in monitoring and managing his staff members before things got back on track.
“It was difficult to coordinate who does what and ho. I ended up swamped with so much work that I was not leaving the office until 3am,” Birch explains.
Birch opened his property office in St Mary’s not knowing that within a month or two, he would have so much demand that two other offices had to be opened up. Birch has been voted as one of the investors of the year for YIP magazine.
Anthill asks: Nathan Birch, what motivates you as an entrepreneur?
I am driven by the desire to make a deal happen! I sell a very unique service. I search for and negotiate properties which are within certain criteria i.e. under-market value, in an area with potential capital growth, high rental return. Once the deal is ready to go I allocate it to one of my investors and the satisfaction comes out of them succeeding.
