Most of us keep tabs on a few important numbers in our lives — like how much money we have in the bank, significant dates (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.), shoe size, that sort of thing. But numbers have been at the core of human understanding and evolution since long before Pythagoras was geeking out in 6th Century BC Greece.
