1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

A group of three entrepreneurial young people met in France and decided to create the “Tinder for universities”. The concept has evolved into what we have today which is platform designed to best equip users to make the best purchasing decision for their specific needs and wants in a transparent and convenient manner. Our business model, product development and future planning reflects the mantra of the founders’, which is focused on creating a better future. Today, our culture is fuelled by connecting people globally and helping people become the best version of themselves.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…help people around the world find the perfect university degree, university and country for them. Our app transforms the education industry by mobilising a traditionally offline process.

It does this by…

…leveraging a database of all the courses available in a country, providing a platform for potential students to find the best options for them, connects potential students with Buddies who will help them prepare the perfect application to maximise their chances of acceptance, and developing a community that provides support for users from each other, university spokespeople and industry professionals.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

It digitizes and mobilises traditionally offline processes.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

In markets where applying to courses through an agent is regular behaviour, this increases transparency, ease and convenience. In markets where this is new behaviour, we offer the ability to explore new possibilities and make better education purchasing decisions.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

Meeting with agents in their offices and receiving non-personalised “recommendations” that were dictated by inter-company agreements with education providers. “Solutions” were accepted for their lack authenticity and transparency. In other markets, this is a new service and potential customers have unrecognised desires for a product like this.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

International student recruitment agents and universities. Although both these competitor groups can also be used as partners, which is also an innovative approach to international student recruitment business models.

People who are looking for a university course. We predominately target people from non-English speaking countries who are seeking to study an post-graduate degree abroad. Currently there are 1.7m students who use agents. We plan to grow this by teaching this behaviour to new markets, like Australia, who haven’t had services like this before.

It is available for sale through…

A mobile app. The service is enhanced through online chats, webinars and student counselling which take place physically and on other online platforms.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Establish revenue streams in markets where this is common behaviour through leveraging partnerships with other student platforms, events/festivals and competitors. This is supported by online advertising, building communities, out-of-home advertising and user generated promotional programs. After this, we will focus on developing streams in markets where users need to learn this behaviour, predominately through partnerships with government and industry.
