Participants fought for 23 display spots and a total of $150,000 in cash prizes at Tech23 held at The Auditorium at Surry Hills in Sydney last month. Startup companies pitched their innovation ideas to 400 potential investors, mentors, entrepreneurs and more.
Here is the list of the Tech23 2011 NSW Government Prizes:
OrionVM: Broadband Innovation Award
This company works with Cloud Computing. Out of several components that sets them apart from other cloud computing companies, they claim to be an Australian Based Cloud. “We bring you all the advantages of Cloud Computing while keeping your Instances on Australian shores.”
Centryc: Outstanding Collaboration
This company is known for its development of the “Metag.” According to their website, “‘Metag’ is a new breed of customer [credit] card that can work in one venue or thousands, to deliver personalised transactions and communications across multiple channels.”
StageBitz: Catalyst Award
This company works with production props. They claim to be the “first web-based system to provide you with total control over props management for your productions.”
Filter Squad: Greatest Potential Award
This company develops mobile apps to “help you find what you like. The company’s first app ‘Discovr Music’ became a runaway hit across the world and is a #1 iPad and iPhone app on the Apple iTunes Store.”
goCatch: Innovation Excellence Award
This company developed a mobile app called “goCatch” that assists taxi drivers and those looking for a taxi. “Drivers [can see] where available passengers are, and confirm trips and bookings with the tap of a button. Passengers [can see] where available drivers are, flag a taxi, book a taxi, and rate [the drivers].”
