What is 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians. Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Joshua Kamil, VIC (b. 1985)

Name: Joshua Kamil
Age: 26 (Born: November 1985)
Gender: Male
State: VIC
Known for: Ready Steady Print

Seven years is a long time for an online business. It’s also been the majority of Joshua Kamil’s adult life. He has been doing his thing as “the Robin Hood of printing” for precisely that long — even as the Internet has evolved and forced the extinction of many entrepreneurs who couldn’t keep up.

Ready Steady Print performs a fundamental service, and performs it very, very well: printing documents on demand — business cards, booklets, brochures, flyers, and much more — pricing them competitively and turning them around quickly. All the while, RSP keeps adding to its total client list (Kamil puts the figure at over 7,000) and growing its revenues (70% over last year).

Kamil’s strategy is to reassure clients that his business acts as an extension of their workforce, rather than a remote third party. That concept, partnered with an inability to fall into complacency, has earned Kamil his third Anthill 30under30 mention, and his second straight outright win.

“I don’t believe we are anywhere near the top of what our business can grow to,” says the 26-year-old Victorian, “which is really exciting.”

When RSP debuted in 2006, it was one of the first printers in Australia to go online. Since that inception, competition has exploded.

“Now when you look around there are at least 30 [competitors] all bidding on the same keywords, all going after the same clients, offering the same products,” observes Kamil.

The flurry of undistinguished printers, however, leaves him unfazed.

“Our advantage is that we have a long trading and very good reputation online,” he says. “We make sure our customers are happy and keep returning!”

Anthill asks: Joshua Kamil, what motivates you as an entrepreneur?

The evolving Internet and as a result, evolving website keeps me busy as I am always trying to make our users experience, better, easier and faster…which in turn should lead to a higher conversion rate, more sales, and a bigger business.
