Aussie Mum snags award for practical (and cute) sleeping bag

Kelly Northey has taken home a national award for entrepreneurial mums. Kelly is the creator of Bamboo Bubby Bag – a cotton/bamboo sleeping bag designed for babies with eczema.

The Bamboo Bubby Bag has become a practical and popular choice among parents worldwide, minimising damage caused by scratching from eczema, dermatitis and even chicken pox as well as stopping thumb sucking and even helping babies who would wake from cold hands.

Eczema is a particularly unpleasant condition that is quite common in infants, and can continue into adulthood. The condition, also called atopic dermatitis, can cause painful blisters, dry sky, redness, inflammation, and leather-like patches on the skin. Especially with the case of young children, eczema can be very frustrating for baby and mother alike.

The product has been named the 2012 Favourite Product of the Year at a glittering ceremony during The National AusMumpreneurs Conference held recently in Sydney.

Celebrating Business Mums

The ceremony was an opportunity for business mums to celebrate and recognise the best and brightest entrepreneurs in the mumpreneur industry, acknowledging success in business, product development, services and innovation.

Kelly is proud to be recognised as the Favourite Product recipient and was thrilled to accept her award.

“Distraught and sleep-deprived from being kept awake night after night from incessant scratching and skin damage, I designed the first Bamboo Bubby sleeping bag and it gave our whole family peace of mind and a good night sleep!” explained Kelly about the start of the Bamboo Bubby idea and business.

The Bamboo Bubby Bag is the only natural bamboo-cotton sleeping bag specifically designed for babies with eczema and its unique Adjust-a-Sleeve design grows with babies throughout their entire first 2+ years providing value for money for parents and a good night sleep for babies or toddlers.

“I’m so pleased that my product, born during a distressing and sleep deprived time has grown quickly in popularity, allowing Bamboo Bubby as a business to thrive. Being recognised with this national award, will enable me to spread word of its benefits further than ever and continue on helping many others with a solution and support through an exhausting, upsetting and quite isolating time. I love that the business I’m building gives back to others in the form of both helpful products and support through Bamboo Bubby’s ever growing Facebook and Twitter groups.”

The AusMumprenuers Awards are organized by Connect2Mums, an online community that provides a safe and supportive environment for women in business to get together and share information, network and gain motivation

Having a look around the Bamboo Bubby website showcases plenty of cute babies wearing the snuggly sleeping bag.

The only question really is “Does the blue one come in any size that will work for a 2-metre tall chap?”
