What is 30under30?
30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians. This year saw a surfeit of highly qualified entrants, so we thought we would highlight some of the bright and innovative nominees who just missed Top 30 by a wink. Known for: Urban Moves
The removalist industry runs in his family, yet Patrick Hamilton is his own man. Urban Moves came into being to offer more efficient moving and better prices to those with a ton of furniture and just more than an inkling of despair.
The company dispatches rental trucks and moving men for hourly rates and ditches fees for all travel within the Sydney area.
Recently, Urban Moves added a rail moving service to its repertoire, allowing for shipments from Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
Hamilton also grows his profit margin through a stronghold in the market of web real estate, buying domain names that generate big turnover.
An open and inquisitive mind and the will to act on ideas have kept his entrepreneurial train chugging along.
Anthill asks: Patrick Hamilton, what motivates you as an entrepreneur?
The desire to become time- and money-rich. Hanging out in the startup community of Sydney also provides me with synergy of the entrepreneurial community. Building a brand motivates me also.
