David Johns set out to sell his crappy 1999 Holden Barina.
He thought the best way to showcase this awesome vehicle was not to write a witty and entertaining Gumtree or eBay ad. That’s been done.
Johns went to the next level. He created a schmick video that highlighted what an impressive vehicle it is, while it also mocks the standard, run-of-the-mill new car ads.
And, let’s not forget that it comes with matching seats!
That was about two week ago. More than 1.1 million views later, he has decided that the proceeds of the sale of the car will go to the Cancer Council.
I bet you never thought you’d be watching a video selling a 1999 Holden Barina. Yet, here you are.
Why? Because this is content marketing at its best. It’s off beat, it’s entertaining and, the novelty factor is high. But, most importantly, it’s shareable.
And that, Anthillians, is the key to good content marketing – making content worth sharing.
