Entries are now open in the 2011 Premier’s NSW Export Awards, which provide an opportunity for companies in New South Wales to be publicly recognised for their international business success.

The awards are open to all NSW companies that are doing business in the international marketplace. Award categories recognise the range of exports from the State and include small business, manufacturing, information and communications technology, services, and agribusiness.

The NSW Government, through the NSW Office of Trade, Business and Industry, is the major sponsor of the awards and sponsors the Exporter of the Year Award and the Regional Exporter of the Year Award.

“NSW exporters are very successful in a range of markets and sell a wide variety of products and services,” Premier Barry O’Farrell said. These include wine to China, ICT to the US, and coal to India. Businesses in New South Wales generated merchandise exports worth $31.2 billion and service exports valued at $20.8 billion in 2009-10, he said.

Previous winners of NSW export awards include the University of Western Sydney, Bega Cheese, the Wiggles, Casella Wines, ResMed and Cochlear.

The award entries close on 22 August; winners will be announced in Sydney on 20 October. Winners of the State awards go on to represent NSW at the Australian Export Awards.
