Troy accidentally pulled out an asthma plan from his filing cabinet at home. He was horrified that this document, designed to save his son’s life, was gathering dust and not shared with all the carers responsible for caring for his child. In the age of social networking, he decided to build a secure social care network, the ‘Facebook of health and safety’, to allow any group with a duty of care to collect electronic health records and make them instantly available to authorised carers on mobile devices, even without Internet access…the perfect solution for schools, sporting clubs and businesses.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…reduce lost time and medical errors in an emergency. It provides instant access to emergency contacts, allergies, asthma plans, medications, etc. so a carer knows exactly what to do, who to call, or what to tell an ambulance paramedic.

It does this by…

…providing a parent/member/employee controlled electronic medical form. An authorised carer can then view the emergency information on their smartphone or tablet, even when offline as data is stored (encrypted) on their device. The user updates the data at regular intervals ensuring all viewers have the latest information. The system now allows digitisation of other forms required by an organisation.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

…emergency data was on paper, out of date or not accessible when required in an emergency. CareMonkey ensures data is secure, up to date and accessible. It automates collection, follow up and distribution of medical and other data, saving time for administrators. Care profiles are shareable with multiple groups and individuals — e.g. school, clubs, grandma, baby sitter — convenience!

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

…organisations requiring their parents, members or employees to fill in paper-based forms and then ‘hope’ somebody will have access to them in an emergency. CareMonkey automates the process of collecting medical and permission forms and injury reports and makes the data instantly available when required. It is the first time many organisations have had access to such critical data.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

…any group with a duty of care. It’s huge. Any sporting organisation, school or business is a target. We’re selling to each of these markets in Australia and internationally. We’re signing partnerships with organisations where we provide new routes to market or a complimentary service. We’re making great progress in schools and sport and now we’ve released a version for companies to collect medical and any other data (e.g. visas, qualifications, certificates, licenses, etc.). We’re also a solution as a free family database and this helps spread the word. We truly aim to be the ‘Facebook of health & safety’.

CareMonkey is marketed and sold in Australia through our partners (e.g. FOX SPORTS PULSE) and our direct sales team. We have resellers and referral partners in Europe servicing and selling to international customers (e.g. Irish Computer Society).

We have a partner-led marketing strategy which is proving to be very successful. For example, in sport in Australia we partner with FOX SPORTS PULSE who have 40,000 clubs as customers. Their marketing reach has enabled us to sell CareMonkey to NRL, Touch Football Australia, Basketball Vic, Water Polo Australia, etc. It’s a win-win for all.
