What is 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians. This year saw a surplus of highly qualified entrants, so we thought we would highlight some of the bright and innovative nominees who just missed the Top 30 by a wink. Behold, our 2012 30under30 Honourable Mentions! More.

Brent Chandler, VIC (b. 1983)

Name: Brent Chandler
Age: 29 (born: 1983)
Gender: Male
State: VIC
Known for: Zwift

You’re at home, glued to the interwebs all day, when you get a craving for a pizza.

Be honest: did you just check the fridge for the number of the nearest shop?

With everything we already take for granted online, Brent Chandler would like to inform us that takeaway food can have a happy place there as well.

Zwift is a platform that gets restaurants online, substituting an online menu and a click of the mouse, and throwing in some marketing services on the side so that businesses be found online easier.

Painstakingly, Chandler created all of the technical infrastructure for Zwift on his own. Despite slow early adoption, the platform continues to gain traction.

Each week, some 1,500 new users (yes, new) are placing orders with Australian restaurants via Zwift. And thanks to the business model, the difference in sales is easy to detect: “The beauty of growing our clients’ revenue is that it’s completely measurable and we see immediate and direct results from our hard work,” says Chandler.

Clients can set aside worries about great websites and concentrate on great grub.

Exactly as it ought to be.

Anthill asks: Brent Chandler, what motivates you as an entrepreneur?

There are a few key motivators that drive me – I love creating things and seeing them applied, used and then successfully improve someone else’s life, business and of course revenue.
