1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

I edit books by entrepreneurs and I kept seeing the same issues coming up over and over again — their books were repetitive, had thousands of words of tangential content, and had holes and gaps that needed to be filled. It frustrated me that these entrepreneurs had no clear framework to write a good book. They just assumed that their editors would fix everything, and this led to hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars spent on rewrites. In some cases, they gave up entirely. I wanted to create a formula that anyone could follow to write an awesome book.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…help entrepreneurs write awesome books.

It does this by…

It’s an online course that helps entrepreneurs map out their book, including guidance on how to pick the right idea, how to map out their chapters, how to flesh them out with the right content, and how to find their voice. At the end of the process, they should have a blueprint so detailed that their book writes itself.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Most other writing coaches and courses just focus on getting a lot of words on paper, either by setting word-count challenges or transcribing interviews. The problem is that while these create books, they generally aren’t very good ones. This course teaches entrepreneurs how to write a great one.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

  • Save hundreds of hours in the writing process
  • Save thousands of dollars in editing fees
  • Finish your draft in days or weeks, rather than months
  • Defeat writer’s block, as you always know what to write next

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

…editors. The problem with this is that most freelance editors don’t do structural work — they offer a human spell check. Unfortunately most entrepreneurs aren’t writers and need someone who’s going to reorganise their book themselves to get the best results.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

…working with a book coach; business coaching courses with a publishing focus.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Entrepreneurs who want to become leaders in their industries. They have service-based businesses, at least two years’ of experience, aged 30 to 50, typically not writers, varied industries. They are still stuck selling time for money and sometimes feel like they need to compete on price. They want to establish themselves as leaders so they can get the benefits that come with leadership status — speaking engagements, media opportunities, charging higher rates, partnerships with major brands, and making a bigger difference.

It is available for sale through…

Online.

Our marketing strategy is to…

  • Market to our social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Email marketing
  • Affiliate marketing (we have partners in both business coaching and self-publishing services who have already volunteered to reach out to their lists)
