Super Speak is making public speaking cool for kids – and that makes the company a cool contender, if you ask me.
Started in 2008, the concept for Super Speak was born over a BBQ. (Sounds like our kind of brainstorming session!) The company is on a mission to better serve parents who would like their children to have a good foundation in public speaking.
Super Speak is innovative for recognising that most adolescent speaking courses were actually borne out of adult curricula, and as such, was always a little daunting for the little ones. Now, the content is 100% cool and totally kid friendly, thanks to Super Speak. Now, the team at Super Speak is bent on making speech fun for kids – and the company is having a rollicking time itself in the process.
Super Speak is growing, and celebrating along the way. When the startup succeeded in attracting 1,000 students, all of its teachers and their partners were taken to a special dinner. Student successes are celebrated with certificates and award ceremonies that urge parent involvement, too.
Oh, and did I mention that Super Speak is also for adults? Yep, the company offers workplace training and private coaching geared at grown ups. This aspect of the company makes Super Speak a versatile outlet for learning the finer points of public speaking for anyone, and ups their street cred to boot!
The company is mostly marketing itself in the old fashioned way: one on one with its client families. The skills of public speaking and drama, which Super Speak also teaches, are all about people, and the company gains extra cool points for embracing the tangible art of public speaking, while reaching out via the internet to help families. Cool, eh?
