Last night, Federation Square in Melbourne was host to five eager startups vying for the attention of the crowd of over 300 and, The Big Pitch judges.
The startups were competing to receive funding of up to $5 million.
There were more than 350 applications for The Big Pitch but, only five were chosen to pitch. The Big Pitch is the the brainchild of entrepreneur Larry Kestelman.
After a robust discussion about which startup should win, it was declared that both WeTeachMe and ECAL were worthy. Both businesses have the potential to become significant global businesses.
WeTeachMe is a rapidly growing community marketplace were in-person courses and classes as listed and booked.
ECAL is an advanced calendar marketing platform that allows marketers to reach customers via their personal and work schedules. So far, the company has won some impressive contracts with Australian and overseas professional sports teams.
The other three finalists were online shopping platform Blue Sky, enterprise productivity enhancement platform etaskr and games developer Black Delta (KartSim). Black Delta took out the People’s Choice Award.
