What is 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians. This year’s batch of nominees was extensive and impressive. So much so that we believe several young talents who didn’t snag 30under30 top honours still deserve your attention and recognition. We call them our Up-and-Comers. More.

Peter Bradd, NSW (b. 1984)

Name: Peter Bradd
Age: 27 (Born: January 1984)
Gender: Male
State: NSW

Peter Bradd wants you to send a postcard. Not to him, of course.

Bradd is the creator and founder of ScribblePics, an online service that combines our current world of smartphones and laptops with the old-world jolt of getting something fun in the mail.

The tech of ScribblePics, which Bradd developed, is simple enough. You upload a picture, add a message and address information, and pay a small fee. ScribblePics prints the postcard and drops it in the post within 24 hours.

Bradd has further monetised ScribblePics by partnering with Qantas airlines (his biggest catch by far), Contiki holiday planner and Perisher ski resort. He has dedicated portals that create postcards with the respective companies’ logo prominently displayed.

Bradd says he developed ScribblePics with “next to no investment and a lot of hard work.” He also learned something about himself along the way.

“I realised I was a software development provider, not a marketing services provider. We had outsourced our main function, which didn’t last long,” he says. “A mentor helped me see the light and learn the vital core competencies of our business.

“I find time and again that where you set out to go isn’t what you become famous for.”

Bradd says ScribblePics combines his passions of travel, photography, technology and communicating in a meaningful way. It makes it easy to go to work each day.

“I believe the opportunity of a lifetime comes by every day,” he says. “This guides me away from the shiny tin cans on the side of road and helps me stay focused.”

Anthill asks: Peter Bradd, what’s your superpower?

“Resilience. The ability to get knocked over time and time and time again, and get right back up and say, ‘Hey, I don’t care how hard you’re going to make this, it’s happening.'”
