1. THE BEGINNING
This innovation initially came to life when…
As a building inspector, I started searching from 2009 for an Australian-made inspection app to assist my report writing.
Building and pest inspections generally are in accord with AS 4349.1-12007 and AS434.3-2010. The problem was what few apps that were available were not Australian and did not comply with these standards.
Inspectors were relegated to hand writing then typing later on into the late hours. The app has evolved to conduct any type of inspection not just building, and has saved hours spent in double handling.
2. WHAT & HOW
The purpose of this innovation is to…
…assist inspectors/auditors completing the report of any type inspection onsite. It is a mobile app that works on any iOS and Android device. No internet connectivity is required on the field and it can be used with the preloaded templates or create custom templates.
It does this by…
All the required information is pre-installed, a simple tick and go process. Images can be taken by the mobile device and inserted directly into the automatically generated PDF report. On completion of the report, it can be emailed, uploaded as a PDF report to the integrated Google Drive and backed up for later retrieval. Templates can also be backed up.
3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS
This innovation improves on what came before because…
- Compliance with Australian Standards
- Complete customisation to suit any individual’s style or requirements
- Google Drive integration
- PDF generation
- Auto email
- Push/pull features
- Hidden disclaimers don’t get in the way of inspection info but appear in report
- Insurance approved
- Used as a Master Builders Association SA approved
- Custom template creation
- Report completed on site
Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…
The customer is presented with a professional report that is informative and easy to follow and read, including a populated summary and a detailed item by item report. The end user can also now have a balanced work/home life by completing the report on site.
4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
In the past, this problem was solved by…
In the past, inspectors would write defect on a paper, and ask their spouses to type a 60 page report (cut/paste disclaimers) or purchase a US-based PC software for over $3,000 then have to manually add comments and images to the report, still requiring after hours work.
Its predecessors/competitors include…
The likes of 3D Inspection Software, Home inspector Pro and Palm Tech. There are many similar to the above, all US-based.
5. TARGET MARKET
It is made for…
Council inspectors, building and pest inspectors, WHS auditors, food and hygiene inspectors, motor vehicle pre-purchase. We even have a US-based basketball court renovator using the app to provide the client with a report of the existing court. Just about any one who conducts any type of inspection or audit will benefit from My Inspection App.
It is available for sale through…
…the App Store and Google Play. Whilst others charge thousands for apps that simply don’t have the features of the My Inspection App platform, we will market the app from $39.00 per month with unlimited support and lifetime updates.
….offer the app at the most affordable price available, sponsorship to all RTO and training facilitators (free Access to students while learning). The MBA has already accepted sponsorship and is very excited about the app. We will also use trade shows and an online marketing campaign.
