1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

The MiSwap platform manages childcare absences by providing last minute places for children on waitlists or those needing extra days. Everyday in Australia there are over 120k children absent from childcare; at the same time there are approximately 250k children on waitlists. MiSwap, permits for this gap to be met at a minimum cost. MiSwap brings the sharing economy to childcare in meeting the current problems of accessibility and flexibility in childcare while at the same time will enable downward pressure on childcare costs as organisations are in a position to dramatically increase revenue through increased occupancy seen through MiSwap.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

MiSwap enables last minute childcare places to be filled by those desperately needing a childcare day.

It does this by…

MiSwap consists of App technology for parents and a platform for childcare centres. Parents indicate on the calendar that their child will be away; parents on waitlists or those wanting an extra day click on the calendar to indicate they want to buy that day. The transaction is processed and all interactions are tracked through the centre’s dashboard.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

MiSwap is a ‘passport’ for childcare access. It holds access to online enrolments and supporting documentation, so a parent may attend any childcare centre at anytime there is a vacancy. MiSwap operates at the centre, inter-organisational as well as open (access to all participating centres). Centres will have the ability for full occupancy; parents will have access to more childcare.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…
Centres are changing their processes and stating that MiSwap is the means of communicating a child’s absence as this takes no time from the staff’s day. Once the absent day is logged, those needing days are automatically able to purchase. Mi

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

Traditionally, parents would call (or not) to indicate that their child will be absent; Centres Directors would then seek to identify a ‘fill-in’ child for that spot; however, this takes up for 45 minutes in a busy day, so Directors tent to leave that spot free. Therefore, the enters are missing out on additional revenue and parents are missing places.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

The main competitor to MiSwap is KindyNow – KindyNow has been around since 2014 and although we are meeting to same problem, our solutions are very different. KindyNow requires integration to CCMS software and is limited to the Aus market.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

MiSwap is made for parents who have children in childcare or after school care or those with children on waitlists. MiSwap is made for childcare centres so as to better manage their absence and meeting full occupancy. MiSwap is made for greater childcare organisations so as to have the ability to better manage absences and occupancy across several centres. MiSwap is made for parents who need access to flexible childcare solutions.

It is available for sale through…

The MiSwap App is available in both the Google Play and App stores. The MiSwap dashboard is available to centres through www.micareglobal.com (MiSawp).

Our marketing strategy is to…

Social Media is key to our go-to-market; participating on lobby groups and childcare conferences and gaining memberships of the various childcare organisations and associations. A PR strategy including traditional media releases and news drops. Market mapping, brand awareness strategies as well as direct marketing and a well positioned Board with representation of reputable pers from the sector
