Anthill Cool Company Awards

The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

Ah, who gIves a crap?

Sorry, we just always wanted to type that somewhere on this website.

Actually, Who GIves a Crap, the innovative toilet tissue company (yes, we said “innovative toilet tissue”) does give a crap about the world. And the company’s 100-per cent recycled paper products are easy on your bum, too. What’s not to love?

The company has a sense of humour, sure. But it also has a truly serious mission. Its mission is trifold:

  • To flush poverty down the loo
  • To make every wipe count
  • To only test on bottoms

In order to accomplish those noblest of goals, Who Gives a Crap is putting 50-per cent of its profits toward the building of toilets in the developing world, using only recycled materials, and testing their products on “only the finest human bottoms.”

To get the word out, the company says they are focusing on social media, firstly.

“We sell online, use subscription software, and provide fast and efficient online customer service. We focus on social media instead of paid advertising,” the company tells us.

The idea is truly novel, as We Give a Crap is the first toilet paper subscription service of its kind in Australia.

“Before our product, there was no toilet paper that solved a social problem as its core mission. Getting toilet paper home delivered was also expensive, and subscriptions did not exist,” the company adds in their application.

They also know how to throw a party.

“To celebrate our first birthday and our first donation, we threw a huge toilet themed party (with blue cocktails, a giant toilet roll pinata, brown cup cakes with little “poops” on top, a toilet photo booth and decorations made out of our wrappers) and invited everyone who supported our crowdfunding campaign as well as our early customers.”
Well, there you have it, a company that cares, has a side-splitting sense of humour, and an earnest mission to help others.
How very cool.
