A few years ago, in 2006, Magicdust founders Bianca Rothschild and Ian Mills were in trouble financially with their first company. Overnight, they realised they needed to do something drastic.

A client had mentioned an idea which sparked the pair to pivot to serving small business owners with websites using the untapped emerging technology. Within three weeks, Magicdust had launched and it immediately caused a disruption in the website development market in Australia, offering affordable, well-designed websites their clients could update themselves.

The company took on ten customers in its first week and has since gone on to build over 6000 websites to become one of Australia’s largest web companies for small businesses.

“We build bespoke and highly functional websites efficiently,” the company tells us.

“Over the years we have streamlined our systems so we can build around 40-50 websites a week, all work is done in-house, design, hosting and support all 100-per cent Australian.”

The company services its customers in more or less “traditional ways,” via phone and email. But it reaches out to new customers with thoroughly modern platforms, like Google Adwords, social media campaigns, and strategic partnerships.

But, says the company, it all comes down to good customer service.

“We are mainly motivated to always increase our referrals by ensuring we have happy clients!”

No one is really sure how Magicdust is able to produce functional, appealing websites so rapidly, but they get it done and they’ve been at it for years.

Now that’s what we call cool.
