1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

…the 16-year-old co-founder was searching for a way to undertake a pitch and business plan for a business concept and searched for a template to complete the work. With all of the information searched coming up with either Word templates or work templates turned into fillable PDF documents, the question was asked: why can’t this be completed online so that it’s easy to work on, easy to present, and simple to understand?

The project was scoped and the innovation developed and became iBOP: Interactive Business Operations Planning.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…make the task of managing the pitch, business plan, operations plan, financial projections, analysis and data capture through online forms a simpler task and collaborate without the use of Word, Excel and PDF.

It does this by…

iBOP does this through an online business application that has been pre-formatted with all the modules of Pitch, Business Plan, Operations Manual, Analysis and Data Capture and the communication between various roles from accountant, banker, lawyer, and key staff. The business owner can appoint and control each of the roles and what they see and contribute.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

The innovation improves significantly on what has come before. All the formats previously used by business coaches, advisers, planners have been either in fillable Word or PDF documents (in some cases Excel). This has now been made as an available online business tool. It improves on the tools provided by Government, all of the banks and accounting associations.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

The benefits include: elimination of Word and PDF templates, access is cloud-based, it is flexible and allows the business owner either to be Do It Yourself, Do It with Me or Do It For Me, for managing.

Competitors and predecessors in include Word and PDF templates prepared by various sources. The PDF templates provided by all of the 4 major banks, the PDF provided by business.gov.au.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

…the small and medium business owners that want to better understand their business through a business plan. The small business owner can now take control of the task of business planning and operations to use this structure for appointing and seeking knowledgeable experts in the field, including accountants, bankers, lawyers and industry specialists. In addition, this can be a product used by professionals (i.e. mortgage brokers, lawyers, planners, accountants). They can use the tool in providing business advisory services to compliment existing services offered. Tailored expertise and commentary is the value add.

This product is for sale direct through the owner. No resellers have been appointed. An alternative available to sell through an online sign up.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Our marketing strategy consists of commentary through online social media channels of Facebook and LinkedIn. We intend to send various media releases to channels that wish to publish longside of why business planning and also to attend startup conferences and introduce the service. Marketing will consist of giving the pitch template and access for free use. The freemium model.
