Hospitality entrepreneur raises $1 million to launch Australia’s first online premium cocktail subscription service

Cam Northway, one of Australia’s most experienced and knowledgeable beverage experts, is launching a new tech startup, Cocktail Porter, the quenching solution that discerning fans of premium drinks have been waiting for.

Home delivery of premium goods and services is the hot new trend, alongside a shift in consumption from quantity to quality. Seeing this, international drinks expert and hospitality entrepreneur, Cam Northway, has leveraged almost two decades of experience in creating premium cocktail experiences to establish Cocktail Porter.

Northway, whose personal investment makes up a significant portion of the initial $1 million raised, sees his new venture similar to premium assemble-at-home meal delivery service, Marley Spoon, providing a premium, easy-to-use online experience that conveniently delivers to your door or office all the ingredients and know-how required to mix up high quality cocktails.

What gap in the market is Cocktail Porter looking to fill?

Convenience, quality and choice are reshaping Australia’s home delivery sector, with ‘premiumisation’ arguably the most significant trend influencing the global alcoholic drinks market. With the Australian drinks industry expected to reach AUD$45.58 billion by 2025, Northway has been working on this concept for almost two years.

“The dramatic take-up of wine and meal-kit delivery products have whet the consumer appetite to stay in and enjoy the same comforts as they would at any venue in their city,” Cam Northway says.

“Savvy entertainers and cocktail lovers will be able to experiment at home with the best ingredients, equipment and simple directions – removing all the barriers to entry when it comes to whipping up cocktails at home, or in the office on a Friday afternoon.

“The bespoke nature of each cocktail box also means that there’s no waste or unnecessary outlay on pricey ingredients that don’t get used.”

Who is Cam Northway?

Northway has spent almost 20 years immersed in the world of hospitality, including time spent servicing high profile clients such as The Rolling Stones, Kanye West and Prince Harry, working alongside major brands including Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Bacardi, Red Bull, Schweppes and Hyatt.

Cocktail Porter will launch its initial offer with four different cocktail options including Gin Martini, Treacle Old Fashioned, Bloody Mary and Belafonte Spritz. Each cocktail kit makes between 14-18 drinks and has a RRP $145. Cocktail Porter will ship Australia wide and is offering the first 100 subscribers the chance to get a box for just $99 (25% off the RRP $145).
