1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

…my parents needed help.  They had recently renovated a unique, heritage cottage built around 1890, and were looking for ways to showcase the property online for the B&B market. Traditional photography methods could not show the cottage in its entirety, so I jumped into researching other options and technologies.

The best tool at the time was Google Street View, but we wanted more.  We craved a more interactive and immersive experience, hence CloudTour was developed.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…enable viewers to experience any location as if they were there. CloudTour is an interactive an immersive online experience, letting users explore a stunning online environment from their computer, mobile or VR headset.

It does this by…

…using the best available techniques to capture amazing imagery, from land or the air, and delivers this to viewers online brand new experience. CloudTour is hosted in the cloud to deliver a fast and reliable user experience, information can be displayed in a variety of ways including images, video and text through interactive information hotspots.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

…businesses are always looking to tell their story in their own unique way and to engage with customers. First, it was through text, then images and video, now there is CloudTour. With CloudTour you have the ability to do a range of things from selling a bottle of wine to booking a wedding venue, all while clientele fall in love with your location and business.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

…high levels of customisation to ensure it works with the business and their branding; statistics that show what and for how long people are looking at particular parts of the tour; ability to share it through social media; embed it on a website; engage clients through VR.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

…using text, images, videos and websites. However, it is becoming increasingly hard to have high levels of user engagement with these mediums.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

…Google Street View, this was a new way that businesses could showcase the inside of their business, however there is no way to include customisable information and really engage with the user.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

…businesses that are wanting to showcase their function rooms, cellar door, venue, resort, hotel, or just about any type of location. Wineries can use CloudTour to showcase their unique business, allowing users to learn about the winemaking process, where the wine comes from and interact in a new way. Places such as resorts and hotels can use CloudTour to show users around common areas, different types of rooms, as well as having the ability to book a particular room through CloudTour.

It is available for sale through…

CloudTour is currently available and our latest tour was built for Chapel Hill in McLaren Vale, South Australia (http://cloudtour.cc/chapelhill).
CloudTour is the latest platform from Lateral Vision (www.lateralvision.com.au).

Our marketing strategy is to…

…connect with creative agencies, marketers and web developers who already work with our target audience. They are then able to offer CloudTour as a service to their customers and integrate into their website and marketing efforts.
