In 2008: the recognition of the reality of climate change by society, governments and forward-thinking businesses. For business, staff engagement and behavioural change are fundamental to the success of a large-scale change. Organisations have a need for sustainability education that can be delivered in a practical format, actively engaging the learner and encouraging behavioural and cultural change. Change2 is an off-the-shelf, scalable online solution, delivering interactive sustainability modules which can be accessed by all staff. It encourages further discussion and communication of sustainability practices within organisations and is supplied with online tools to facilitate ongoing behaviour change.

Educate the learner about sustainability and to help organisations become more sustainable. It incorporates specific practical actions staff members can take and how to incorporate sustainable thinking at a strategic level within their work.

Engaging and educating the learner through a series of high production value, engaging online modules which are 15-25 minutes in length. All modules are built around active learning principals, and designed in such a way that a learner cannot effectively complete a module without gaining an understanding of the subject matter.

Traditionally organisation-wide behavioural change was the preserve of consulting companies, tackled on a bespoke basis for a particular organisation, and typically done face-to-face. The Change2 program is an off-the-shelf online program that has the necessary elements to embed learning and behaviour change across any organisation.

Increased staff engagement, awareness and support for corporate sustainability. Improved staff satisfaction and reduced energy costs. Results show over 85% of participants have increased understanding and awareness of sustainability and over 90% want to help their organisation become more sustainable.

Face-to-face classroom-style education. This method is costly and often viewed as largely ineffective. Outcomes could be achieved but would usually be very timely and costly in comparison to online engaging content. The classroom is also not very practical or scalable for large organisations and is largely dependent on the quality of the instructor and more passive in delivery.

Face-to-face classroom-style sustainability education, or more recently other forms of off-the-shelf online education. Classroom education is largely ineffective and unsustainable. Other existing eLearning around sustainability does not actively engage the learner in a style to effect behavioural change.

Any organisation which needs to actively engage staff around sustainability and the sustainability practices which are in place within the organisation. Whilst the modules can be effectively implemented across any organisation, in order to facilitate large scale behaviour change the ideal target audience would be large organisations with 1000+ employees. Due to broader government and industry interest, we are now exploring methods of adapting and deploying the program for SMEs, communities, and schools.
