This innovation initially came to life when…

CEO Mel sat in an airless telco call centre about six years ago and thought to herself: “Surely, the Australian customer experience should be better than this!” BoomVox was born to help businesses engage their customers positively. Our first product, BoomVox Amplify, is a mobile application brands use at events to capture genuine customer excitement and spread it online. It’s live, and has demonstrated tremendous impact for attractions and events like the Peats Ridge Festival and the Australian Museum.

The problem is that most advertising is still old-style broadcast, whereas the future of advertising is customer-sourced, based on word of mouth. What if you could get customers to help build your brand? The BoomVox mobile app does exactly that.

It does this by…

The BoomVox team covers an event with BoomVox loaded on iPhones/iPads and takes photos, comments, audio, and video. This content is shared instantly to social media and fans receive personalised emails, making sharing one-click-easy. After the event, the social sharing of the content extends the event’s reach and lifespan.


This innovation improves on what came before because…

Alternatives to BoomVox are either pleading for check-ins and likes (with its low response rate and inability to shape the message) or professional photographers (with high price tags and a format that makes sharing online difficult). BoomVox puts brands in the driver’s seat. We are quick to set up and we are much more effective and affordable than the alternatives.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

BoomVox shows brands a higher return on their marketing dollars by directing brand content through customer social networks. Trusted referrals are the number one marketing channel and that’s the power that BoomVox leverages.


In the past, this problem was solved by…

Previously, brands have relied on a combination of manual and offline actions to create an afterburn for their event – for example, securing an expensive professional photographer then manually uploading pictures days after the event, long after it has lost its freshness for attendees. Without being able to remind attendees, they’re unlikely to check back for pictures, or share.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

There are a few companies providing photo-booth services to brands, as well as professional photography services – but we don’t know of any that have the combination of mobile presence, tightly integrated social sharing, and real-time participation as BoomVox does.

We have entered the market in brand events, where there are advocates in attendance. Each year there are over 316,000 corporate events in Australia covering more than 22.8m participants, and over 2,600 consumer attraction organisations. The total marketing spend for these events and organisations is $370m+. We have proven brands will pay for our product and they are coming back for more.

We’re focused on building direct relationships with brands and agencies that want to maximise the impact of their events. We believe a combination of strong relationships and great results will generate ongoing client relationships and positive word of mouth. In the future, we will offer online self-provisioning so that BoomVox Amplify can be used by smaller brands and even individuals.
