What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Olga is driven by a desire to inspire people to make unconditional choices and do what they love without any barriers. The idea to start Persollo (with co-founders Kyrylo Medvediev and Serg Metelin) was partly influenced by her professional career back in Ukraine, where she worked for over five years in consumer research, driving consumer insights for big FMCG brands through TNS Global.

Prior to becoming a startup founder, Olga worked in social research projects across industry, government and non‑profit sectors and lectured sociology & politics at University of Sydney. “Passion for innovation, female and economic empowerment is what motivates me to bring value to our small businesses and brands, as well as continue lecturing at university,” she says.

Persollo is the world’s 1st instant checkout platform that enables small merchants, brands and influencers to sell their goods across social networks without the need of building sophisticated and expensive e‑commerce sites or online shopping carts. Persollo allows click through payments straight on social media.

They have helped over 750 businesses across 16 countries to increase their conversion by 300%. Backed by Telstra  funding, Persollo powers some awesome global brands: New Balance, Australian UGGs Original, HotelsCombined and Marie Claire.

“I’m entrepreneurial because coming to Australia in 2012 with no family and friends here, in just four years I received PhD, founded a tech company that went through two Australian top accelerators and got backed by Telstra, expanded business to 16 countries, closed a big investment round and built a team of 11 working towards shared big vision and goal,” Olga told Antihill.

Persollo’s growth has been entirely organic through amazing opportunities and marketing automation. From its early days she pitched Persollo at StartCon, Mark Borius Show, Lenovo Innovation and the like. Through sharing her story of a young female co‑founder of a tech company, they got to INCUBATE accelerator, then into Telstra’s Muru‑D.

Soon after the company got featured among 13 Australian startups to watch by SMH, Startcon, StartUs Magazine, we won Visa™ People’s ChoiceAward, and Persollo story has been featured in Channel 7’s Dream Academy series about startups. The buzz is bringing Persollo new clients, mentors and investors.

Anthill asks: Have you ever been lucky, punk?

I am very lucky in many ways… When I won Australian funding to come to University of Sydney to do PhD. When I met great professionals with whom we created Persollo, now fast growing global tech‑company. When my young age and being female has created more opportunities than barriers by facilitating support from inspirational mentors, investors and business‑clients. I seized an unexpected opportunities by transforming my weaknesses into advantages. All my life is about unexpected opportunities 🙂
