Cool Company Awards

The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

SignManager [Finalist, SAVVY]

A company that employees want to work for and other businesses want to work with. That sounds cool. SignManager offers its clients intelligent, integrated end-to-end solutions. There is no signage task that SignManager can’t handle.

SignManager begun sixteen years ago, when its three directors saw a better way for companies with a large signage portfolio to manage their signage requirements.

Screen Shot 2016-11-30 at 9.01.37 pmSignManager takes care of some of the best known brands in Australia, and they are constantly on the lookout for new ways to innovate and improve. SignManager started with two clients, both of which are still clients, today 16 years later. A fun story from the beginning is that the directors paid to register the business name with winnings from a Melbourne Cup win.

The services they offer span the lifecycle of the sign from planning and design, risk management, procurement, maintenance, reporting and metrics. No stress, no worries just reliable results.

“Our entire re-imaging process was handed over to SignManager due to their vast experience managing site audits, artwork proposals, compliance, tendering, manufacturing and installation.” Stuart Mclean, Dealer Development Manager, Stihl Australia.

SignManager has ten staff who have been with them for more than ten years. They celebrate these achievements along with staff birthdays, weddings, engagements and births. They host monthly social activities, like VR Zombie Shootout, stand-up paddle boarding and croquet, each designed to increase staff bonding and a work/life balance. They get involved with charity events, such as Stress Down Day for Lifeline. To support the campaign they came to work dressed in their PJs.

The company even has mascot, well actually two. Screen Shot 2016-11-30 at 9.59.29 pmMaverick and Max, who have their own Instagram page.

SignManager actively encourages its staff to be community minded by giving them two days paid leave a year to volunteer for an organisation of their choice.

Some examples are Christmas tree decorating at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, working at cancer council stall at a shopping centre and providing IT services to a not-for-profit.

Also, the company allows their WA State Manager unlimited paid leave to participate in voluntary CFA activities, as he is the Captain of his local brigade.

From its great culture to its innovative outlook, these are just some of the reasons that SignManager has been recognised as a very cool company.
