Cool Company Awards

The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

At a time when LED technology was in its infancy, with most manufacturers releasing products that sacrificed light quality in order to produce cheaper fittings, brothers David and Barry O’Driscoll set out to disrupt an industry that was reliant on planned obsolescence in order to create higher quality, longer lasting and more sustainable LED lighting.

With the firm belief that sustainable technology and great design should go hand in hand, the Brightgreen team developed a range of architectural luminaires that rival the aesthetic of the most revered European brands, while providing unparalleled efficiency.

From humble beginnings in a Perth backyard back, in 2007, Brightgreen now lights up major projects in over 14 countries. It is an Australian manufacturing success export story, with 30% of its revenues coming from exports.

Abroad, particularly in Europe, its Tru-Colour technology is widely praised for how close it comes to recreating the Australian sun, to provide more vibrant colours, textures and interior details.

Brightgreen not only enhances the way people experience of architectural spaces but also does so while reducing the carbon footprint of homes, offices and commercial spaces.

Its first product to market was the world’s first LED downlight to match the brightness of a 50W halogen.

Today, it offers architects, designers, electricians and homeowners efficient LED downlights, pendants, surface-mounted, track and spot lights that feature Tru-Colour, an advanced colour rendering technology that incorporates more colours on the visual spectrum to make interiors look more vibrant and lifelike.

BrightgreenApart from the environmentally conscious lighting, Brightgreen adds to its cool repertoire by tuning into what their customers are saying, seeing what incredible projects they’re working on and keeping an ear out for any improvements that can be made.

The company has a self learning system that learns about customer needs and automatically serves information and advice to staff and customers. There is an upgrade in the works for 2017.

An authentic and ego free company culture also adds to its brightgreen coolness with in-house yoga, a bar with their house brewed beer on tap and a chef direct from a European three-star restaurant serving up lunch daily.
