Maitri Patel, 29, is known for her management skills, innovation and the pursuit of turning her passion into a business.

As the owner and creator of Bollywood Dance Studio—Perth’s biggest Bollywood Dance School—Patel started her business in 2011 out of a small backyard studio that hosted her first two students.

Now she manages over six locations in Perth including a professional dance school (180 sqm), and five other satellite locations with well over 200 students. With students ranging from toddlers to seniors, Patel and her team “firmly believe that Bollywood dancing is about letting go of your inhibitions and giving into something that is larger than life.”

With a team of over five employees, Patel established her dance school and performance company as the leading Bollywood studio in Western Australia, with a turn over of $140,000 annually and a growth rate of over 20%.

Last year, she launched an International Instructor training program with the aim to take it globally to Canada, Dubai, Asia, Japan and Sri Lanka.

“In the next 5 years, I plan to have over 500 instructors for Bolly Active globally and to adopt a school for disabled children in India and fully support it.”

Patel immigrated to Australia just over 12 years ago as an international student. Since then, she created and started two successful companies in the last six years to which she credits her ambition.

“I 100% believe in the power of hard work, kindness, perseverance, determination and always doing it with love,” shares Patel.

She has negotiated several contracts for events for some of the biggest companies in Perth, which include: Chevron, BHP Billiton, WA Golf Awards, Fairbridge Festival and more.

Bollywood Dance Studio prides itself on being socially conscious with the aim to give back via fundraising, Patel and her team support a disabled children’s school located in India.

“My super power is my ability to sell ice to an Eskimo.

“I believe in my ability to sell and innovate new product ideas, services and events.”
