1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

in discussion with Victoria Police Search & Rescue squad, who were looking for an improved satellite tracking platform for coordinating their search and rescue operations.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

provide improved coordination, oversight and reporting of police search & rescue operations and in turn decrease the time taken to locate and extract missing or injured persons and reduces the cost of the operation for the emergency response squads.

It does this by…

providing a cloud based rescue management platform, which allows the emergency response team to open, coordinate and share search & rescue jobs between other squads or departments. This is done through the use of satellite and cellular tracking technology. The platform also provides users with the capability to communicate with missing or injured persons and locate them using SMS.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

of the key feature which allows the emergency responder to locate missing or injured persons by sending an SMS to their mobile device and using the location services on the device to locate and mark the individual in the open job. The Fleetsu solution is also cloud based meaning jobs can be coordinated from any location and shared.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

providing a cloud based, centralised emergency response platform, which allows the user to track and coordinate all aspects of the operation in one place, reducing time to locate and extract missing or injured persons and reducing operational expense significantly.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

using basic tracking technology combined with desktop software and seperate GIS mapping solutions to coordinate operations. Also relying on traditional cellular and radio communication and expensive helicopter surveillance to locate missing or injured persons who provided inaccurate location coordinates.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Intermedix AVL & Mapping solution available in the USA and MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Next-Generation Incident Command System (NICS) platform currently in R&D phase.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

emergency response Search & Rescue squads initially but will be extended for use by other emergency services such as Fire, Police and Ambulance. The solution is initially being targeted at the Australia & New Zealand market place but being cloud based and highly scaleable, the product will soon be marketed globally.

It is available for sale through…

direct B2B sales between Fleetsu and the potential customer at this time but will also be made available through partner and reseller networks once taken globally.

Our marketing strategy is to…

target Australia and New Zealand search & rescue departments initially, before expanding this to include other emergency departments. This includes traditional marketing activities and networking plus we have been selected as a speaker for the up coming Australia & New Zealand Search & Rescue Conference, being held on June 1st on the Gold Coast.
